Last year, the Foundation for Wallingford-Swarthmore Schools awarded grants to support three projects at the Middle School:
- Mr Brian Fili purchased 32 Smart Response XEs, devices that allow his (and other) math students to provide answers without raising their hands — answers show up on a computer screen anonymously and instantly. This technology helps engage students and helps teachers better gauge student comprehension levels.
- Mrs Deanna Czyszczon-McGovern purchased 10 Logitech headsets that allow students to listen to online language activities and record themselves using computer programs. The recordings can then be easily accessed to provide feedback on diction.
- Mrs Chris Kimball-Kelly received funds to buy a set of French and English copies of I Will Never Be Fourteen Years Old, providing classroom activities in advance of the 8th graders’ trip to the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC.
